Pest and Diseases

Aridalta Coffee

Pests and diseases certainly cause a decrease in production of Gayo Arabica coffee. One of the most dangerous pests in the Gayo Highlands is the coffee berry borer. Accompanied by global warming, due to increasingly hot weather, coffee berry borer pests are increasing to an altitude of 1200 from 800 meters above sea level. In our opinion, the best way to overcome this is by adapting and mitigating climate change. By maintaining natural enemies of pests, creating a microclimate, and developing varieties that are resistant to pests and climate change. Some of the pests that pose a threat to farmers in Gayo are coffee berry borers, leaf rust, fleas and coffee stem borers.
